Vision for Psychiatry in Pakistan

As the President of PPS, my vision is to elevate psychiatry to a prominent position in Pakistan's healthcare system. We aim to enhance mental health services, promote awareness, and reduce stigma around mental illnesses.

Key Objectives:
  • Improve Mental Health Services: Strengthen training centers and promote community care.
  • Awareness & Advocacy: National media campaigns to educate and reduce stigma.
  • Research & Development: International collaboration to advance care.
  • Policy Advocacy: Separate budget allocation and "Sehat Sahulat Program" inclusion.
Future Directions:
  • Establish Mental Health Helpline for suicide prevention.
  • Upgrade Psychiatric Training Centers.
  • Modernized Media Awareness Campaigns.
  • Establishing a Board of Advisors of past presidents and senior teachers.

We have already amended our constitution and established councils for different subspecialties of psychiatry to ensure specialized growth.

I urge the government, healthcare professionals, and civil society to work together to address mental health challenges in Pakistan. Let's prioritize mental health and ensure quality access for all.

"Together, we can build a mentally healthy Pakistan. I appreciate your support and commitment to this noble cause."
